NOTICE OF Annual General Meeting, followed by in conversation event with Ma Thida on Writers at Risk in Burma

The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Perth PEN Centre will be held at 5.30pm on Thursday 21st September 2023 at the Centre for Stories, 100 Aberdeen St, Northbridge; and will be followed by a writers talk (details to come). All members and prospective members are welcome but only members can vote.
The agenda for the AGM is as follows:
1. Attendance, proxies and apologies
Members unable to attend may appoint another member to serve as their proxy at the meeting; please notify the Secretary at danmidalia@iinet.net.au in advance or bring a letter signed by the member to the meeting. Members unable to attend may send apologies to the Secretary or present them through another member at the meeting.

5. Appointment of interim chair
A chair will be appointed to conduct the Elections.
6. Election of Office Bearers and Committee members
The current committee comprises Krishna Sen (Chair), Frances An (Treasurer & Communications Co-ordinator), Robin Bower (Writers in Prison Co-ordinator), Caroline Wood (Centre for Stories Co-ordinator) Dan Midalia (Secretary) and Baden Offord.
New committee members would be warmly welcomed; nominations, including self-nominations, are strongly encouraged. These should be sent to the Secretary at danmidalia@iinet.net.au, preferably before the meeting. Co-options to the Committee after the meeting are also possible.
7. Other business
· Other business may be raised by any members present.
Calls to start and renew financial membership
Membership fees go towards hosting events, contributing to the support of imprisoned writers, and helping promote the responsible freedom of expression. Our website address is here (https://penperth.com/) and includes links to our monthly newsletter.
The annual membership fee is $80 full or $40 concession.
There are now two ways for paying:
1) You can pay by PayPal. Just go to this link (https://penperth.com/join/) and choose your membership type. (You can also make a donation or subscribe to our newsletter here.)
2) You can pay directly to the PEN Perth bank account (BSB: 036-054 Acc: 362829). Please ensure that you include your name in the payment description section.
After you pay, you can expect to receive a confirmation email indicating successful membership renewal/start and expiry date by the next Sunday. Please feel free to email if this receipt does not arrive or if you have questions about membership.
